FOG — Privacy Policy

Effective July 24, 2026 · Applies to the FOG mobile app

The short version: FOG collects nothing. Your location history never leaves your phone.

Location data

FOG uses your device's location to reveal the map wherever you go. All location processing happens on your device. Your trail is stored only in the app's local storage on your phone. It is never uploaded, transmitted, synced, or shared — FOG has no server, no accounts, and no cloud.

Background location is optional, off by default, and only activates after you enable "Background exploring" and grant the operating system's own permission. It works exactly like foreground exploring: positions are processed on-device and stored on-device.

What we collect

Nothing. FOG contains no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, no crash reporters, and makes no network requests with your personal data.

Purchases

The optional "FOG Unlimited" one-time purchase is processed entirely by the app store (Google Play or the App Store). We never see or store your payment details. Your purchase state is kept on your device and with the store for restore purposes.

Your data, your control

Children

FOG is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Given that the entire policy is "we collect nothing," we don't expect much drama.
